I love your clear articulation of pathways toward whole societies and the ripple effect from Totnes to Torbay. I do believe education plays a big part too - to integrate into the schools the different paths their imaginations know are possible before we educate the wildness out of our children. Of course as you know Local Futures do great work in this area also. I have found through my own research on farmers' markets in Ireland the importance to create a market for a different way of doing business - to operate a marketplace structured on different logics to, and operating outside of, a conventional neoliberal market logic as those roots run deep in many institutions.

Very interesting Jay, and a wonderful description of the tapestry being woven in the town I'm now proud to call home.

I suspect these won't be new to you but there's a wonderful spotlight being shed on place-based economic change by Antidote, and their excellently-named podcast 'Screw this, let's try something else'. Some really inspiring stories from communities across the UK creating connection and resilience through rethinking energy, food and local political voice. The final episode offers their reflections on the common elements they identify as a blueprint for action. Hearty stuff.
